Toy Fox Terriers descended from the Fox Terriers and Chihuahuas. It's an all-American breed. These dogs are true Terriers with Terrier instincts in a toy dog's body. They are still working dogs- they hunt and go to ground with pleasure. Usually they hunt squirrels and rodents. Flyball or fetch are learned easily. The cross breeding with various toy breeds created a milder disposition, with which made Toy Fox Terrier easier to live than other Terriers. Their handy size, athletic appearance, grace, strength, stamina, intelligence and agility made them popular with circus performers and farmers. Toy Fox Terriers are very comical and entertaining, they can run about for hours and remain playful most of their lives making them ideal companions for children and for the whole family. But be careful: Toy Fox Terriers cannot tolerate clumsy handling.

This breed is famous for its clean habits and easy maintenance. Monthly grooming is enough. The dogs are friendly and loving yet protective. They are easily trained and ideal for showing in agility, conformation and obedience. These dogs are always eager to please; they are determined and not easily intimidated with other larger dogs. Toy Fox Terriers lacking these features are to be faulted.
